IOCL Selection Methodology
Selection shall be on the basis of performance in Written Test of two hours duration followed by Skill/Proficiency/Physical Test (SPPT) for the shortlisted candidates. SPPT will be of qualifying nature with no marks assigned to it. Candidates securing minimum of 40% marks in the Written Test may qualify for Skill/Proficiency/Physical Test (SPPT). The minimum qualifying marks in Written Test will be relaxed by 5% for candidates belonging to SC Category against reserved positions. Shortlisted candidate, in the ratio of 1:2 (two candidates for one post, with due cognizance to number of reserved posts) subject to securing the relaxed minimum qualifying marks in the written test, will be required to undergo Skill/Proficiency/Physical Test (SPPT) to be conducted by separate committees duly constituted for each post.

Age limit: Minimum 18 years and maximum 26 years.
 
Application fee: Candidates belonging to General and OBC categories are required to remit Rs.100/- as application fee. SC/ST/PwBD candidates are exempted from payment of Application Fee.

Selection Methodology

1)    Selection process shall consist of Written Test and Skill/Proficiency/Physical Test (SPPT).
2)    Skill/Proficiency/Physical Test (SPPT) shall be qualifying in nature only.
3)    Final merit list shall be prepared based on the marks secured in Written Test of only  those candidates who are considered FIT in SPPT.
4)    Candidate  has  to  secure  a  minimum  of  40%  marks  in  Written  Test  to  qualify  for  SPPT.  For SC/ST/EXSM candidates, minimum qualifying marks shall be 30% against the reserved posts only.

IOCL Apprentice Exam Pattern & Syllabus

Written Test shall be held tentatively on 11.02.2018 (Sunday). Written Test shall be of Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ’s) consisting of 4 options with one correct option. Candidate has to choose the correct option. There shall be 100 questions in the Written Test and total marks shall be 100. Each correct answer shall carry 1 mark.
For the post of Engineering Assistants, out of 100 objective type questions, 75 questions shall be from the concerned engineering discipline of Diploma level and 25 questions on General Aptitude and Reasoning, General English, Numerical Aptitude and General Knowledge etc.
For the post of Technical Attendants, out of 100 objective type questions, 75 questions shall be on Technical discipline from General Science and on basic ITI trades like Motor Mechanic, Electrical, and Fitter etc. The remaining 25 questions will be asked on General Aptitude and Reasoning, General English, Numerical Aptitude and General Knowledge.
There shall be no negative marking for wrong answers.
Duration of Written Test shall be of 90 minutes.

IOCL Apprentice Exam Pattern & Syllabus

Selection process would consist of two stages i.e written test & personal interview. The written test will be of two hours duration & would comprise of objective type of questions with multiple choice on the relevant discipline, general knowledge/awareness and reasoning/logical ability. There shall be no negative marking. The questions will be in bilingual ie., English and Hindi  Obtaining minimum qualifying marks in the written test does not confer any right or claim by the candidate for being shortlisted for Personal Interview or the final selection, as the same is related to number of positions, relative performance in respective categories. The written test and interview would carry a weightage of 85 % and 15 % respectively.

From the total 85 objective type questions, 50 questions shall be from the concerned discipline and 35 questions on General Aptitude and Reasoning, General English/Hindi, Numerical Aptitude and General Knowledge.
Duration of Written Test shall be of 120 minutes i.e. two hours.Candidates can opt for the Question Paper/Test either in English or Hindi language.The candidates will have to qualify each stage of the selection process i.e. Written Test and Personal Interview. Minimum qualifying marks in Written Test and Interview is 40% separately. The same is relaxed by 5% for SC/ST/PWD candidates against the reserved post.
Candidates securing minimum qualifying marks in the Written Test and in the order of merit will be called to attend Personal Interview in the ratio of 1:3 for each seat. If there is a tie in scores secured by the candidate in the written test, then all candidates with same score shall be invited, even if the short listing ratio exceeds the prescribed limit.

Age limit: Minimum 18 years and upper age limit will be reckoned as 31 years.  PwBD candidates will be allowed age-relaxation up to 10 years. Selection Process
Selection  will  be  on  the  basis  of  performance  in  the  Written  Test  of  02  (two)  hours  duration  and Skill/Proficiency/Physical Test (SPPT) which will be of qualifying nature. A candidate will have to secure a minimum of 30% marks in the Written Test to qualify for further consideration.   • There shall be 100 questions in the Written Test and total marks shall be 100. Each correct answer shall carry 1 mark.
  • For the post of Engg Assistants, out of 100 objective type questions, 75 questions shall be from the concerned engineering discipline of Diploma level and 25 questions on General Aptitude and Reasoning, General English, Numerical Aptitude and General Knowledge etc.
  • For the post of Technical Attendants, out of 100 objective type questions, 75 questions shall be on Technical discipline from General Science and on basic ITI trades like Motor Mechanic, Electrical, and Fitter etc. The remaining 25 questions will be asked on General Aptitude and Reasoning, General English, Numerical Aptitude and General Knowledge.
  • There shall be no negative marking for wrong answers.
  • Duration of Written Test shall be of 90 minutes.

SKILL/PROFICENCY/PHYSICAL TEST (SPPT) MODALITY: In SPPT, the technical skill/proficiency /physical ability to handle/operate the tools / equipments of the respective engineering discipline of the shortlisted candidates shall be assessed. Final Merit List however, shall be prepared based on Written Test marks only of those candidates who are declared FIT in SPPT.
VERIFICATION OF DOCUMENTS : At the time of initial application through online portal, candidates are not required to submit any document  with  regard  to  their  qualification,  age,  category  etc.  They  shall  be  short-listed  for appearing in Written Test based on the information furnished by them in online portal.
